1324 (Hawker Blackburn) Squadron

The ATC is the RAF's cadet force, divided into six regions, 36 wings and more than 900 squadrons within communities around the UK

We're sponsored by the Royal Air Force and can give you hands-on experience of activities and courses that will challenge and develop your skills to help you succeed in whatever you want to do.

The aims of the ATC

  • Promote and encourage a practical interest in aviation and the Royal Air Force among young people.
  • Provide training which will be useful in the Services and civilian life.
  • Encourage the spirit of adventure and develop qualities of leadership and good citizenship.

1324 (Hawker Blackburn) Squadron is located in Brough, East Yorkshire.  The Squadron was formed in 1941 at the then Blackburn Aircraft Factory and has served the area continuously since.  Originally open to factory apprentices, for decades now the unit has been open to young people from the area.

1324 is now located in the Joint Cadet Centre at the bottom of Skillings Lane, Brough.

Our cadets have the opportunity to fly in powered aircraft and gliders, take part in adventurous training, develop their knowledge through training in aviation subjects, gain awards in marksmanship, participate in the D of E Award scheme, attend camps both in the UK and overseas, help support their local community, enhance their leadership potential through leadership training courses and more still.  All while making new friends and having fun!

It’s a commitment and challenging but if it’s worth having, it’s worth working for and our cadets rise to the challenge!
