Humber Enterprise Park shortlisted for Constructing Excellence in Yorkshire & Humber Awards

7th June 2017
We’re proud to announce that the Humber Enterprise Park has been shortlisted for the Constructing Excellence in Yorkshire & Humber Awards 2017 in the Buildings Project of the Year category, sponsored by Gosschalks.

This year marks the tenth anniversary of the annual awards which celebrate the best the regional construction industry has to offer, and seek to recognise and reward ‘the pioneering individuals, projects and organisations that are truly moving our sector forward’.

The Buildings Project of the Year category is judged on teamwork, cost, health and safety standards, environmental impacts, customer satisfaction, innovation and technical achievement. The shortlisting of the Humber Enterprise Park applies to the 6m regeneration project completed in June 2016, which saw the high-end refurbishment of five empty office buildings covering 4930sqm.

A modern and minimalistic approach gave the outdated buildings new life as Hawk, Firebrand, Mercury, Buccaneer and Bluebird, with each possessing their own feel and identity. Each office entrance features bespoke vinyl wraps depicting the aircraft that have given their name to the buildings, with breakout areas and exposed ceilings adding a modern touch.

The colour scheme of each space matches the iconic vapour trails of the sites logo, which pays tribute to sites origins as the place where Robert Blackburn manufactured airplanes in the early 20th century.

A series of murals and vinyl wraps around the site further embrace and celebrate its history, and set the Humber Enterprise Park apart from other industrial and office sites.

At a recent event Janie Rayne, daughter of Robert Blackburn, was proud to say her father would have been thrilled with how the redevelopment respects the sites heritage whilst creating a modern and fresh industrial park.

The project has been a 2 year labour of love for the entire team. We would like to thank Gent Visick Carlton Tower, FHP ESS, LOROC Architects, So Vibrant, Key Property Solutions Ltd, DSM, Black Cat Services, Spray Creative and 4D creations for their respective parts in completing this project.

The awards take place on Friday the 7th of July at the Queen’s Hotel in Leeds. Follow us on social for more updates.
