Tenant spotlight: Crafty Little Brewery’s high hops for 2018

11th January 2018

Premium real ale producer the Crafty Little Brewery is looking forward to what 2018 holds after unprecedented success in its first year at the Humber Enterprise Park (HEP).

The company is joint-owned by Dave Snaith and his son in law Nick Tyldsley, who took over the brewery in early 2017. We last caught up with the pair in July, when they had just begun developing their own recipes using a pilot brewing kit purchased with the money saved on business rates at the HEP.

Since then, the team have gone from producing two beers to a range of five, each with its own illustrated branding. The range includes the Red Tale red ale, an American pale named Wolf Bite, a coffee porter called Perky Porter, the Chameleon (which changes with every brew), and the Black Rhino dark red ale.

While they’ve worked hard on the marketing side, they’ve worked harder on refining the taste, which Nick believes has played a key part in their success in selling their beers in the surrounding area.

In four months of promoting their brews, they’ve ‘got their foot in the door’ in several local pubs and bars, and have even expanded into a couple of London-based establishments.

Looking ahead to this year, Dave and Nick are planning to broaden their reach across the UK market, including festivals, and are hoping to soon move into bottling and canning to allow them to sell beers individually.

They’ve also had a number of requests already to buy their beers direct, and are planning to set up a small shop at the Humber Enterprise Park to sell to the other workers on site.

The pair have both found basing the Crafty Little Brewery at the HEP to be a great decision, and a really positive all-round experience. As well as proving great value for money, Nick loves the artwork around the site and the added peace of mind that 24-hour security brings.

There’s much more to come in 2018 for the Crafty Little Brewery, and we can’t wait to see how they get on.
